To help overcome differences in terminology used by researchers in various fields, plenary "tutorials" were given by experts before the conference. Each expert provided an overview of his or her field in language that other researchers -- scientists, engineers, or medical researchers -- not familiar with the discipline could understand. Click here to download the latest QuickTime or Windows Media Player. If you have any questions, please contact Hamid Najib at hnajib@nas.edu.
Any opinions, findings, conclusions, or recommendations expressed in these tutorials do not necessarily reflect the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, the Institute of Medicine, the W.M. Keck Foundation, or any employee thereof.
