Seven plenary “tutorials” were given by nanoscience / nanotechnology experts who provided an overview of his or her field in language that another scientist, engineer or medical researcher not familiar with the discipline could understand at the two day pre-conference on September 18-19, 2004. The pre-conference presentations and written summaries are posted online. In addition to participants in the November conference, approximately 50 representatives selected by the New York Academy of Sciences and California Council on Science and Technology were invited to the September pre-conference.
