Networks and Connectedness
Alessandro Vespignani
The tutorial will present an overview of the large-scale topological and dynamical properties of complex networks. The statistical features and regularities observed in the large scale structure of complex networks will be discussed along with the formulation of adequate dynamical models. The complex properties exhibited by many networked structures are affecting the dynamics of many processes ranging from disease spreading to innovation strategies and communication processes. Some specific examples in which the use of concepts from complex networks offers a novel perspective on the system under study will be provided.
